The climate and temperature of China varies throughout the area of the country. Most of the country lies in the temperate belt, but the southern most part lies in the subtropical belt while the northern part is in the sub arctic belt. There is usually a lot of rain in the summer, and very little in the winter. China has the largest agricultural output in the world, while only cultivating 15% of its total area. Rice is China’s most harvested crop, while wheat is second. China also produces potatoes, other vegetables, and some fruits. By the end of 2000, China had 633 different cities, while 13 of them had a population of two million or more. The three biggest Chinese cities are Shanghai, Beijing, and Chongqing, in that order. Hong Kong is inside China, but isn’t considered part of the country. Confucianism used to be the main religion in China and help shape its history. However, Buddhism has the most followers and biggest influence in China than any other religion, now. Some other major religions throughout China are Taoism, Islam, and Christianity. Most people in China, now, play sports just like us such as ping pong, soccer, and badminton. These types of sports are fairly new to China, while different types of martial arts have been around much longer than team sports. China is a communist state. This means that everything is ruled and owned by the government. There is no private ownership, and all goods are shared by the people, who are all equal. Chinese education is required and free for ages 6 – 15, and can be continued longer if the person wants to and can afford it. Most of the jobs throughout China are related to agricultural businesses, or they do cheap labor for companies all around the world. The employment rules in China are much more relaxed than the U. S. so big corporation usually have Chinese factories make their goods for much cheaper. Stir fry is the most common cooking technique throughout China. It requires a small amount of oil in a heated pan, and the ingredients of the mea, usually vegetables and meat, are put into the pan and cooked until ready. The most used cooking tool is the wok. It is pretty much like a pan with rounded edges for stir frying. Chopsticks are by far the most used eating tools of the Chinese people, just like our forks and spoons. Chinese meals almost always have rice or noodles. The is usually vegetables in the meals, which could be many different types, such as broccoli, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, cabbage or eggplants. The meat is usually chicken, pork, or fish. Chinese meals are eaten pretty much at the same time as out meals. Breakfast is in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, and dinner is at night. There are much unusual eating etiquettes that must be followed in China. One is that your tea can never be empty. The host will always be refilling their guests’ cups, and the guests must tap their cup on the table as a showing of thankfulness. Another eating etiquette is that, when out with a group of people, you must order an even number or plates, even if there is an odd number of people, because odd numbers symbolize death. Take a log and lightly score the dough at 3/4 inch intervals so that you have 15 pieces and cut the dough. Roll each piece into a ball and place on a lightly greased cookie tray, approximately 1 1/2 inches apart. Place an almond in the center of each cookie and press down lightly. Repeat with the remaining dough. 5. Brush each cookie lightly with beaten egg before baking. Bake for 15 minutes to 18 minutes, until golden brown. Cool and store in a sealed container.

An electric motor is a device using electrical energy to produce mechanical energy, nearly always by the interaction of magnetic fields and current-carrying conductors. The reverse process, that of using mechanical energy to produce electrical energy, is accomplished by a generator or dynamo. Traction motors used on vehicles often perform both tasks. In principle, all electric motors can run as generators and vice versa, although that is not practical with all types in all applications. As a convention the term electric engine is not used for electric motors, but instead refers to a railroad electric locomotive. Electric motors are found in a myriad of applications such as industrial fans, blowers and pumps, machine tools, household appliances, power tools, and computer disk drives, among many other applications. Electric motors may be operated by direct current from a battery in a portable device or motor vehicle, or from alternating current from a central electrical distribution grid. The smallest motors may be found in electric wristwatches. Medium-size motors of highly standardized dimensions and characteristics provide convenient mechanical power for industrial uses. The very largest electric motors are used for propulsion of large ships, and for such purposes as pipeline compressors, with ratings in the thousands of kilowatts. Electric motors may be classified by the source of electric power, by their internal construction, and by application. By far the most common DC motor types are the brushed and brushless types, which use internal and external commutation respectively to create an oscillating AC current from the DC sourceso they are not purely DC machines in a strict sense Series Wound: The series wound motor has only one voltage supply to the motor and the field winding is connected in series with the rotor winding. Universal Motors or Series wound: In a series wound DC motor, reversing either the field winding leads or the rotor winding leads will reverse the direction of the motor. However, simply reversing the leads from the power supply will have no effect on the direction of rotation since it is equivalent to reversing the current through both the individual windings in effect a double reversal. In other words the motor will turn in the same direction even though the current through the series windings is reversed. This means that the motor can run on alternating current as well as direct current since the direction of rotation is independent of the direction of the current through the series windings. Universal motors are often used in power tools and household appliances such as vacuum cleaners and food mixers. Characteristics: The series motor has poor speed regulation. It delivers increasing torque with increased motor current but this is at the expense of speed which falls with increasing torque demands. This motor has a very high starting torque because there is zero back EMF at zero speed however as the speed builds up so does the back EMF causing a reduction in torque.Increasing the load on the motor tends to slow it down, but this in turn lowers back EMF and increases the torque to accommodate the load. Speed control is possible by varying the supply voltage. Under no load conditions the speed will accelerate to dangerous levelspossibly causing destruction of the motor. The motor can be reversed by reversing the connections on either the field or the rotor windings but not both. Regenerative braking is not possible since the field current needs to be maintained but it collapses when the rotor current passes through zero and reverses. Applications: It is a variable speed motor i.e. very low speed at high torqe and vice versa. However at no load motor tends to occupy dangerous speed. The motor has a very high starting torque. So it is used for : The series DC motor is an industry workhorse for both high and low power, fixedandvariable speed electric drives. Applications range from cheap toys to automotive applications. They are inexpensive to manufacture and are used in variable speed household appliances such as sewing machines and power tools. Its high starting torque makes it particularly suitable for a wide range of traction applications. But I was the unique child that made my education different and more enjoyable. My learning process has five processes: elementary, middle, high school, college, and the future. Elementary school started out as a bore but moved on to eventually being fun and enjoyable. I grew to love school and learning during my fourth and fifth grade years at Zia elementary school. My teacher taught me the value of history and American History through books and putting on plays. I became very close to her and she actually treated me as a person instead of a child. I matured a lot during those last two years of elementary school. I was sad to be leaving it all behind once graduation rolled around. Middle school came to fast. I was not prepared for what was in store for me. I still succeeded and did very well. I always made good grades, I stayed out of trouble, and I was well liked by all. I had a lot of friends and made some new ones along the way. But once again the only teacher that made an impression on me was my history teacher. History was the only subject I truly enjoyed. She made history fun and worth learning. I enjoyed the projects we were able to do. I had only one bad experience with a teacher during middle school and to this day I hate her and will never forgive her. This teacher picked on me, made fun of me, and embarrassed me constantly in front of the class. I guess you could say middle school was probably my biggest lear... ...ure leads me. The next step will be a career. Once I feel like I am ready to enter this world I will leave school behind and find a career, a career that will satisfy me and all that I can do. I will create a happy future with a house, husband, children, and the wealth that I will receive from being educated. But of course my education will keep growing as I keep growing. In many instances, individuals neglect to acknowledge the importance of school and a higher education. The individuals who view education as their number one priority see staying in school is important. Why is it important? Is staying in school going to benefit the student/individual? In this essay, I will explain why the literate arts are important and for what they are good. I will also give the opinions of others and what my views are. Richard Miller, the writer of † The Dark Night of The Soul† writes, † I have these doubts, you see, doubts silently shared by many who spend their days teaching others the liberate arts. I agree when Miller says that the doubts are silently shared by many people. Miller and Friere have specified their outlooks on specific parts of literate arts. The literate arts can be explained in a plethora of different ways. Friere explains, â€Å"Yet only through communication can human life hold meaning. The teachers’ thinking is authenticated only by the authenticity of the students’ thinking. The teacher cannot think for his/her students, nor can she impose her thoughts on them. Authentic thinking, thinking that is concerned about reality, does not take place in ivory tower isolation, but only in communication†(322). Communication allows the individual to express what could not express though other liberates. I feel that liberate arts are put to good use when expressing ones self. The thing that did constantly pop up in my head was my favorite television show, â€Å"The Ghost Whisperer.† You’re probably thinking, â€Å"What is The Ghost Whisperer? What does that television show have to do with your essay? How does it tie into the topic?† As it turns out, it has a lot to do with my essay because it is another type of literate art. Television influences the mind of individuals just like reading, writing and communication. In â€Å"The Ghost Whisperer,† the main character, Melinda, tries to deal with her day-to-day life while dealing with her supernatural powers and the ghosts with whom she has encounter. Although she goes through all of these things, the main point is that she is human and goes through average person problems. Among the show’s storylines, I tend to find myself relating to some of the situations that the characters face. From the show, there was a quote that captured me the most. The quote that has captured me and influences me to refer to it on a daily basis; it comes from season five; episode eleven, â€Å"If you believe in happiness the way you believe in bad things you will find it.† This quote, in my opinion, has a powerful message within its self because life tends to make people think negatively depending on what people are going through. One has to stop thinking about everything that is going wrong and acknowledge what is going right. As I read, â€Å"The Dark Night of the Soul† by Richard E. Miller, I found it to be an interesting read. He inquires, why we read, why we write and what might literate arts be said to be good for? As he describes these events, he asks a deeper question, â€Å"What is the point of continuing to read, write and learn in the face of such underlying dangers.
